Cindy Marie Lucas

Cindy Marie Lucas, 57, of Mt. Pleasant, SC entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 2, 2017. She was born on Wednesday, November 4, 1959 in Baltimore, MD to the late Mrs. Mary Avanell Hammock and the late Mr. Irvin Clayton Barnes. Cindy was a professional property manager for 28 years. Most recently she tirelessly managed the Anchorage apartments in Mount Pleasant, SC, for more than a decade as an employee of Asset Management and Consulting Services. As a property manager, Cindy dedicated herself to helping others and was known for doing everything in her power to please her residents. Both in her personal and professional life, she was a kind and wonderful person who loved to laugh and truly cared for people. Cindy loved the outdoors, spending countless hours walking the beaches of south Florida looking for that perfect shell, hiking the trails of the Appalachian mountains, and seeing the Charleston area sites. She loved visiting with family in the Baltimore, MD area, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Iowa. She loved to travel. She was a devoted Christian and was confident she will spend eternity in the arms of her savior Jesus Christ. Cindy is survived by her loving husband of more than 26 years, Kevin M. Jeffries, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Sister, Linda K. Haddaway (William), of Chester, MD; Brother, Irvin Dean Barnes (Heidi), of Leland, NC; nieces, nephews and many loving friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 5, 2017 from 2 p.m to 4 p.m. at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. A Graveside Service will be held at Cedar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 2980 Camden Hwy., Bishopville, SC 29010 on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Cindy's memory to the Hollings Cancer Center at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
