Christine Marie Sweeney, 77 of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025.
Born on December 11, 1947, in Concord, MA was a daughter of the late Barbara Aline (Howell) Sweeney and the late Paul Justin Sweeney.
Christine was a native of Littleton, Massachusetts. Lived and worked in New England and migrated to Mount Pleasant, SC to be close with her daughter and family. Christine had a spirit that you were drawn to and was not afraid to follow her own path. From adopting children from Thailand and India, to owning her own company as a single mother back in the ‘80s, Christine was drawn to a life of adventure. She traveled around the world to Europe, Asia, Russia, South Africa, Australia & Iceland in the 80s, 90s, 2000s.
As an entrepreneur and an educator for over 40 years, Christine ran a successful Property Management business in Massachusetts, including working with her paternal family in a condo conversion and developing land. In addition, Christine volunteered at the local college to teach a course,” So you want to be a Landlord.” for over 10 yrs. She worked with many vendors on how to make their business successful. As a grandchild of Irish immigrants, she had a strong work ethic and a keen sense of how to work with local & US government. Christine lived by the old proverb, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
Her generosity knew no bounds. She was not only generous in life, but also in death as an organ donor.
Christine was a loving mother and grandmother, known as “Queenie” to her 3 grandchildren, Ajay, Kiran and Korinne (AKA: Maxx).
Her energy filled the room as she could enthrall you with the most entertaining stories of an adventure to a hilarious everyday occurrence. Christine is preceded in death by her parents, Paul Justin and Barbara Aline Sweeney.
Christine is survived by her daughter, Emily-Rose Howie (Butch); son, David William Welsh (Kamenthrie); Grandchildren, Ajay, Kiran and Korinne. A
Celebration of Life Service is being planned for a future date.
