Christen Lee Horton

Christen Lee Horton, 42 of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. She was the loving wife of John Horton.

Born in Danbury, CT, Christen was the daughter of Gregory and Laura (Hoeffner) Russo.

Christen worked her way through college, graduating from Western Connecticut State University with her Bachelor's degree. She then volunteered with the Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina relief in New Orleans and Texas before honorably serving her country as a Corporal in The United States Marine Corps. She then focused on family, moving onto her greatest personal achievement, having 3 wonderful children whom she adored. In addition to her own children, she was also Sensei to many others who referred to her as "Judo Mom".

In addition to her husband John, Christen is survived by three children: Lydia, Brooklynn, and John Horton. She is also survived by her parents and two siblings, Elliott and Jessie.

The family will receive friends for a viewing on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation in Goose Creek, SC. Attendees for the viewing are welcome and encouraged to dress comfortable and casual per the family's wishes.

In lieu of flowers please consider making donations to a charity of your choice. As Christen only believed in giving, it didn't matter to who.
