Charles William Briggs, Jr., 78, of Ravenel , South Carolina passed away, surrounded by family, Friday November 10, 2017
He was born on April 29, 1939 in Akron, Ohio, son of the late Sarah Frances Shavily Briggs and the late Charles William Briggs, Sr.
Charlie retired from the US Navy after serving 20 years as a Mineman Chief Petty Officer and also retired from the Charleston County Sheriff's Office as a police officer.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 61 years, Charlotte Brueggeman Briggs of Ravenel, SC; three sons, Charles Briggs, III and wife Susan, Karl Briggs, Sr. and wife Wendi, and Mark Briggs; daughter, Deborah Brandon and husband Thomas; three grandchildren, Jason Brandon and wife Christine, Karl Briggs, Jr., and Keira Briggs and 3 great grandchildren, Kathleen Brandon, Henry Briggs, and Elizabeth Briggs; brother Terry Briggs and sister Jackie Lou Harris.
Along with his parents, Charlie is predeceased by his brother Bill Briggs.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley Chapel. A reception will follow immediately in the café.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to MUSC Children's Hospital.
