Charles Joseph Farrell, 88 of Charleston, SC, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at the Lowcountry Community Hospice House.
Charles was born May 1st, 1934, the son of the late Carlton Gerard Farrell and Agnes Fultz Farrell of Charleston, SC.
Charles leaves behind his devoted wife Vera D. Farrell, of Goose Creek, SC; his daughters, Deborah Farrell Coleman and Cynthia Farrell Taylor of Mount Pleasant SC; his stepchildren, Lisa Weaver (Richard), James Dennis II, and Mark Jeffrey Dennis. In addition, he leaves behind his grandsons, Stephen Andrew Coleman, Jr., Justin Farrell Coleman (Kayla), Mark Jeffrey Dennis II and one great grandson Carter Farrell Coleman (the newest apple of his eye), as well as a sister Karen Rudicill (Robert). He was known as “Uncle Charlie” to a host of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly and with whom he would share jokes.
He loved all that was Irish and especially the song “Danny Boy.” Charles Farrell served in the United States Air Force and retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was an avid John Wayne fan (in fact has a room dedicated to his memorabilia), and he enjoyed playing solitaire on the computer, and in his younger days he enjoyed hitting a golf ball around and playing cards with his brothers-in-law. He loved an audience (of any size) so that he could regale them with stories. He subscribed to Mark Twain’s quote of “Never let the truth get in the way of the good story.” He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Goose Creek. Charlie Farrell never met a stranger and everyone who met him became aware of his generous spirit, his love for his family and his strong faith in God.
In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his late wife, Ann Duc Farrell of Charleston, SC, his sister Mary Farrell Hughes (Sidney), his sister Laura Farrell Tatro (Richard), and his sister Helen Farrell Raymundo.
