Charles David Walker passed away peacefully September 21, 2016 at the age of 74. Chuck was born in Erie, PA on January 30, 1942. He was preceded in death by his father Claude Walker, mother Edna Engels Walker, brother Jack Walker and sister Nancy Mackay. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Catherine Diane Smith Walker of Hollywood, SC; his daughter, Linda Walker Surles (husband Daniel), of Cumming, GA; two grandchildren, Logan and Camryn; his brother Paul Walker (wife Sandi), of Frederick, MD; and his sister Patty Tatara (husband Robert), of Stephens City, VA. Chuck grew up and graduated from high school in Erie and served in the Army for three years in France. After several years as a sheet metal worker in Erie he moved to Maryland in 1968 to begin his career as a PGA professional. He was the head pro at Falls Road Golf Course in Potomac from 1976 to 2000. After retiring, Chuck and Cathy moved to Charleston, SC for a slower pace and to be close to the water. Chuck enjoyed traveling, playing with his dogs Tammy and Campeche, fishing and especially spending time at the hunting cabin with family. When he wasn’t hunting or fishing, you could find him tinkering with his 1973 Grand Am, working on a welding project, or watching the Washington Capitals. He loved all wildlife and had a very active purple martin colony in Barnesville, Maryland. He was funny, generous, and lived life to the fullest.
