Charles A. 'Chuck' Koch

December 20, 1950 — August 5, 2016

Mr. Charles “Chuck” Koch, 65, of Folly Beach, SC, passed away Friday, August 5, 2016. Born on December 20, 1950 in Poughkeepsie, NY, he was a son of the late John and Muriel Koch. Chuck was an AutoCAD Operator by trade and a passionate musician for many years. He will be remembered for his huge laugh, fierce loyalties and many friendships. We as his family can describe him best as a pirate — “Captain Bligh” —he loved that. But he was also a giver, a bluesman, and aIl would say he was a Folly Beacher from the moment he stepped on this island. He loved every grain of sand, every pull of the tide. He was happiest on the Folly River sailing the Bailey J. He was most disturbed at the destruction of the island and the aquatic life surrounding it. The Folly Beach Family was very special to him and he never took his home in “paradise” for granted —most especially because he never had to shovel snow again. But what he loved most was his family and his music. He loved playing and hearing it. He loved musicians, well… most of them. He loved his band of 15 years and the pals he played with at Clemson. But he loved his music and of course he adored his baby girl. His pride of her was boundless. Chuck will be greatly missed by his wife, Brenda and his daughter Bailey. He is also survived by 2 brothers; John Koch of Auburn, NY and Bob Koch of Summerville, SC, 1 sister; Kathy Fisher of New Paltz, NY and a number of nieces and nephews.
