Charla Maxine Graveel, 55 of Goose Creek, South Carolina, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, October 30, 2022.
Charla was born on June 26, 1967, in Indianapolis, IN to Helen Martin (Eddy) and the late Dale Martin. Charla married her husband of 31 years, Darren Graveel, in 1991. They had one daughter, Gabrielle Payne (Graveel) in 1999. Charla was elated to become a grandmother in 2022 to Margo Payne.
Charla loved to be outdoors; she was an avid runner and mountain biker. She enjoyed photography, sewing, crafts, and spending quality time with family and friends. She was a Registered Nurse for 10 years, spending most of her career in Labor and Delivery. She loved to watch true crime TV shows and movies from the Despicable Me/Minion franchise. She had a passion for traveling and loved scenic car rides. Charla had a sweet tooth—she enjoyed a vanilla latte with caramel drizzle from Starbucks each day and loved Krispy Kreme donuts. She was a fantastic friend, a great listener, and had an infectious laugh. Charla was strong-willed, hard-working, and an incredible caretaker. The human that she was is beyond any possible formulation of words–her physical form was incapable of encapsulating the purity and grace of her soul.
Charla is preceded in death by Dale Martin (Father).
Charla is survived by her husband Darren Graveel; daughter Gabrielle Payne; son-in-law Nick Payne; granddaughter Margo Payne; mother Helen Martin; siblings Dale David Martin II (LeeAnne), Denise Hughes, Carla Holland (Andy); Michael Martin (Kathy); nieces Cori Lock (Chelsea), Deidra Rosemeyer (Kyle), Rachel Martin, Cassity Martin, Rylee Screeton (Cameron), Alexa Holland and nephew Alec Holland.
The impact of her absence is immeasurable and her love will live on for generations to come. May she be at peace and run free in the heavens for eternity.
All are welcome to attend her funeral service held in Anderson, IN on November 26th, 2022 at 10:30 AM, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 302 E. 11th St., Anderson, IN 46016. Please wear a shade of purple, her favorite color.
