Cecil Glenn Carlton, 86, of Johns Island, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016. Born in Athens, GA to the late Everett and Rilla Carlton. Cecil joined the United States Navy at age 19. After his departure from the Navy he later served with the Marine Reserves. He was a truck driver with Teamsters and retired after 50 years. His hobbies included shooting pool, gardening, watching NASCAR, his Braves baseball, and spending time with his family. Survivors include his beloved companion, Marion Howard of Johns Island, SC; children, Gail Carlton of North Charleston, SC, Betty (Robert) White, of Summerville, Cecil (Karen) Carlton Jr. of Goose Creek, SC, and Brian Carlton of Summerville, SC; grandchildren, Heather (Chuck) Guingona, Sherry (Mike) Somers, Terry (Paul) Wilkins, James “Packy†Lyles, Kevin (Kate) White, and Jessica White; five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife in 1993, Jackie Carlton. A visitation will be held Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at McALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 22, 2016 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens in North Charleston.
