Cécile “Celia†Mazingue, 41, of Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest with her family by her side on Monday, October 31st, 2016. She was born on Thursday, October 23rd, 1975 in Madagascar, to Laurence Tybou Mazingue and Jean-Claude Mazingue. Born overseas, Cécile spent her early years in France. She was 16 when her family moved to Charleston. She graduated from Bishop England High School (Class of 94) and received a BA from the College of Charleston in 1999. She completed a Master’s Degree in Psychology in Washington DC. She loved to travel and explore the world and above all wanted to spend time with her family, especially with her nieces and nephews wherever and whenever possible. She always looked forward to the family gatherings across all generations and around the globe. At home, she cared deeply about her puppies, Dac and Swann. She was deeply involved in her community and cared genuinely about helping others, from complete strangers to her closest friends and family. She was the glue that held so many people together. In her professional life, she devoted herself to help others in need. Starting by assisting children in kindergarten, she then became a case manager and caregiver for the elderly. As a clinical counselor, she directly supported so many of her patients and co-workers. More recently, she found her true calling as a research specialist, which allowed her to assist additional patients beyond her expertise as a counselor. In her free time, she gave more of herself by volunteering as a hotline operator. She is survived by her loving parents, Laurence Tybou Mazingue and Jean-Claude Mazingue, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; brother, Alex Mazingue (Dr. Tabetha Boyajian), of Baton Rouge, LA; sister, Agathe Marie Mazingue (Pierre Etienne Lucier), of Montréal, QC, Canada; Fiancé, Carlos Roberto Souto, of Charleston, SC; nieces, Alice, Julie, and Cassidy; nephews, Jude and Felix; her godmother Christine Mazingue; her godfather Philippe Tybou; and her loving family and friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Vincent Mazingue. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 5th, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a Vigil Wake Service beginning at Noon at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mt.
