Carol Ann Crusenberry, 85 of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022.
Born on June 24, 1937, in Bristol, VA, Carol was the daughter of the late Thelma Cates (Smith) and James Cates.
Carol was predominantly a homemaker. In her early life, she loved to sew and would make her own clothes. Later on, she took up painting and became quite the artist. She studied under Bob Ross and several other artists. She loved to travel and made many trips with friends and relatives. She was a member of several churches over the years including Gateway Baptist, Fort Johnson Baptist, and James Island Christian Church. She loved her family and spent as much time as she could with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by her father, James Cates, and her mother, Thelma L. Cates, her husband, Harold Crusenberry, her sister, Jean Cates, her son, Jeffery Crusenberry, and her son, Robin Crusenberry.
Carol is survived by her son, David Crusenberry, her daughter-in-law, Sharon Crusenberry, her granddaughter, Melissa Crusenberry, and her grandsons, Robert Crusenberry, Cole Crusenberry, and Farrell Hudgins. Carol is also survived by her brother James H. Cates, Jr., her sister Betty M. Cates, her seven great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.
The family will receive family and friends at the Visitation on Thursday, August 25, 2022, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation, West Ashley Chapel, 2501 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston, SC 29414, 843-722-8371.
The Burial will immediately follow the Visitation at 12:30 pm at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Rd, Charleston, SC 29414.
