Mr. Carl W Thomas, 73, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024.
Born on June 20, 1950, in Woodruff, SC was a son of the late Virginia Garvin Thomas and the late Roy Thomas.
Carl attended Walterboro public schools and graduated from Georgia Southern College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation. He worked for the South Carolina Department of Mental Health as a Recreation Therapist, but subsequently worked in food sales with PYA/Monarch. In 1987, he opened a restaurant, CAPS Deli (Carl and Priscilla’s) in Lancaster, SC. The past twenty-five years he served as an independent distributor for Pepperidge Farm Cookies and Goldfish. Carl loved all things sports-related especially the Clemson Tigers and the Carolina Panthers.
In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by his brothers, Randy and Jimmy Thomas.
Carl is survived by his daughters, Randi Coker (Drew) and Katie Thomas (Bryan Wessinger); grandchildren: Brody and Graham Coker, and Henley Wessinger; Cilla Thomas (his wife of 30 years); sister-in-law, Gail Thomas; aunt, Yvonne Garvin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Saint Jude's Church, 907 Wichman St in Walterboro, South Carolina. The burial will follow at Live Oak Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Charleston Animal Society, 2455 Remount Rd. North Charleston, SC or St. Jude’s Church 907 Wichman St. Walterboro, South Carolina.
