Calvin H. Peeples, 82, of Jacksonboro and husband of Shirley Schilling Graham Peeples, passed away Friday, December 2, 2016. Calvin Peeples was born on May 9, 1934 in Barnwell, SC to the late George Williamson Peeples and Olivia Harley Peeples. He spent 2 years proudly serving his country in the United States Army and he was a retired Planner-Estimator with the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was also he was a member of the Charleston Rifle Club and the Elks Lodge in Walterboro. Calvin enjoyed fishing with his family and friends, being outdoors, working in his garden and workshop and traveling with his wife and grandson Bert. His family will remember him as a loving husband, father and “Grandguy.†In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughter, Holly Weekley (Chris); his son, Curtis W. Peeples; step-daughters, Kim Everett (Gary), Cindy Wilson (Al) and Missy Guffin (Chip); 5 grandsons, 6 step-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren, his niece Debbie Diz (Tony) and his nephew Eddie Kinard. Calvin was preceded in death by his first wife Gwendolyn C. Peeples, 4 brothers, William Wade Peeples, Richard Oliver Peeples, Frank Harley Peeples, George Edward Peeples and 1 sister, Eugenia Olivia Kirton Kinard. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, James Island Chapel. The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 1 PM, 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral chapel. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery following the service.
