Bruce H. Hodges, 70, of Moncks Corner, and husband of Onesta S. Hodges, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2016. Bruce Hodges was born on November 29, 1945 in Asheville, NC, the oldest child and only son of Conrad and Virginia Hodges. He graduated from Barnwell High School in 1964, then he went into the Navy as a Seabee. He retired as a sheet metal worker at the Charleston Naval Shipyard after 25 years of employment. He also retired from Publix after 15 years with the company. Bruce was a Past Master of James Island Masonic Lodge 396, and at the time of his death, he was the Commander of Parish Mounted Rangers Camp 2222 of SCV. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church of James Island where he served in many capacities over the years. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, son, brother and father. In addition to his wife and parents, Bruce is survived by 4 daughters, Tina Hodges Rinauto (Bob), Marcie Hodges Pate (Joey), Leslie Hodges Clark (Bobby) and Katherine Hodges Conrad (Chris); 2 stepsons, Alex L. Carswell (Christy) and J. Scott Carswell (Carla); 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 6 sisters, Constance Deane H. Wilson (Charley), Ginnie Lee H. Monferdini (John), Paula H. Costello (Bruce), Sandra H. Crosby, Pamela H. Riggs (Bryan) and RoxAnn H. Stalvey (Miles), and many nieces and nephews. Bruce also leaves behind his two beloved dogs, Gumbo and Porsha. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:30 PM on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, James Island Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 – 3:30 PM.
