Bonnie Claire Del Vecchio, 82 of Stuart, FL went to meet her Lord and Savior surrounded by family on September 4, 2022.
Bonnie was born on March 19, 1940, in Washington D.C. to Franklin C. and Margaret Claire Green.
She was a proud graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, class of 1958 and Georgetown Visitation, Class of 1960. She was married to John Vincent (aka My cousin Vinnie) Del Vecchio Jr. for 62 years.
After graduation she became the Administrative Assistant to The Postmaster General. She was the featured model for the roll out of zip codes and uniforms used in national postal advertisements. She left her career with the Postal Service to stay home with her children and focus on charity work for her church and schools. She also enjoyed planning events hosted at the Washingtonian.
One of her favorite achievements was being crowned Miss Mayo (Mayo, MD). She was very creative and had an amazing artistic ability. She loved that she was born and raised in Washington, D.C. and enjoyed sharing stories about her experiences in our nations' capitol.
Friends and family remember her love for her dog, Teddy Bear, and how she cooked the most elaborate meals for him. After Teddy was fed, she would heat up some Ragu and unfold a card table like it was nobody's business! All were welcome. Probably one of the most profound memories will be her amazing hair. She took great pride in her beautiful locks and not a day would go by that her "do" was "not done".
She enjoyed spending time with family and lifelong friends in Ocean City, MD. While there she would always make her famous crab dip. It was loved by all and if you weren't first in line when she put it out you would be out of luck.
Bonnie is deeply missed and remembered by her children: Denise Gelbaugh (Stan), Joseph Del Vecchio (Aimee), Michael Del Vecchio (Allyson); husband, John "Vinnie" Del Vecchio Jr.; grandchildren, Andrew, Patrick and Sam Collins, Sean Del Vecchio and Gabrielle and Ginabella Del Vecchio.
Brothers and sisters, Frank and Lawrence Green, Beth Barry and Terri Green, greeting her in heaven, Mary Jo Green Denhard and Gamma Green.
Please join our family at the Celebration of Life for Bonnie on Saturday, November 19, 2022, from 3pm-6pm at Knights of Columbus, Rock Creek Manson 5417 W. Cedar Lane, Bethesda, MD 20814.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to The Shepherd Foundation, www.theshepherdfoundation.org.
