Beverly Hargen

Beverly Katherine (nee Cooley) Hargen, age 84 found eternal peace on January 7, 2024, after suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease. 

Bev is survived by three children: Joseph Jr., Thomas, and daughter Katherine Sweeney (Sean); adored grandsons Sean, Thomas, James, and Timothy Sweeney; and Conor and Will Hargen.  

Beverly was born on November 25, 1939, in Manchester, New Hampshire, as the youngest of 4 children. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Joseph Michael Hargen as well as many in the Cooley and Hargen families and by her grandson, Daniel Sweeney. 

Bev and Joe moved from their native home of New Hampshire to Rockland County, NY to raise their children. After 30 years in that community, they enjoyed their retirement in Media, PA and Myrtle Beach, SC. 

Bev was a compassionate and devoted, wife, mother, and grandmother.  She excelled as a critical care nurse, and real estate agent and when she was not surrounded by her family, she could be found baking, working in the garden or volunteering at her beloved parish, St. Mary Magdalene in Media, PA.  The love, care, guidance, and comfort that she shared so freely will be greatly missed and remembered daily.  

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 16 at 10:30 am at Stella Maris Catholic Church, 1204 Middle Street, Sullivan’s Island, SC.
