Beverly Jean Hamon

A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Beverly Jean Hamon, 93, of Daniel Island, SC, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.

Born on February 13, 1931, in Green River, WY, Beverly was the daughter of Clare and David Howser.

Beverly was an engineer, mathematician, teacher, and artist. She met her husband William while studying for her degree in mechanical engineering, where she was the only woman in her graduating class at George Washington University. Beverly was a fierce defender of the underdog, and especially passionate about art, opera, birds, baseball, and tennis. At 61, she learned to kayak and began to study the art of Tai Chi. Beverly was an active artist into her nineties and her work was featured in numerous galleries and shows during her time in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Beverly’s greatest joy was spending time with her grandsons James, David, Liam, Milo, and Will, of whom she was immensely proud.

Beverly is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, William Hamon Sr.

Beverly is survived by her five children and their families: William Jr. and Susan, Robert, James & Safia, Jeanne Marie, and Lia and Sol, as well as her five grandchildren.

A celebration of Beverly’s life will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Daniel Pointe Retirement Community in Daniel Island, SC.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Birds of Prey in Awendaw, SC.
