On March 13, 2022, Barbara Ann Spears passed away peacefully in her Mount Pleasant home in South Carolina, surrounded by her family. She was 74 years old.
Barbara was born on February 7, 1948, in Boston, Massachusetts. She grew up in Lincoln, Massachusetts until she went to college at Notre Dame of Baltimore in 1970 where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Barbara married Robert in 1972 in Concord, Massachusetts, and would have celebrated their 50th anniversary this year. They welcomed their first son Gregory in 1982, and their second son Patrick in 1985.
Barbara, with her husband, owned their own business for many years, and she was also an ardent Mary Kay consultant. She later worked as a Revenue Officer for the South Carolina Department of Revenue until her retirement. Barbara loved her family, her God, and her friends. When she got to her final resting place, she surely heard “Welcome, come in, thou good and faithful servant.” She was a member of Christ Our King choir and bellringers, as well as an instructor in Christian Formation classes. She was the Snee Farm Swim Team “mom” for more than ten years.
Barbara is survived by her husband Robert; her children, Gregory and his wife Stephanie (Misty), and Patrick and his partner Aaron; her sister Dorothy Clinton; her brothers Walter Gajewski, Robert Gajewski, Richard Gajewski, John (Jack) Gajewski and their spouses; her grandchildren Marion (Alex) and Robert (Robbie); and a large community of extended family and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Sophie Gajewski.
A visitation is scheduled on March 17, 2022, from 5:00 PM -7:00 PM at McAlister Smith Funeral and Cremation, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on March 18, 2022, at 10:30 AM at Christ Our King Catholic Church, 1149 Russell Drive, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
