Aretha V. Lee

Aretha V. Lee, 88 of Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest on January 9, 2023.

Born on April 19, 1934 in Charleston, SC, she was one of nine children born to the late Augusta Webber Carlisle and Benjamin Carlisle. 

Besides her parents, Aretha is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis M. Lee, Sr., and all of her siblings.

Survivors include sons, L Marshall Lee, Jr. and Michael Benny Lee (Connie) grandchildren, Amy Lee Owen and Michael J. Lee (Laura); great-grandchildren, Ace Lewis Owen and Austen Elizabeth Owen; step-great-grandson, Jayden Sanders, all of Charleston, and several nieces and nephews.

She loved her family above all else. Especially dear to her heart were her great-grandchildren who she fondly referred to as "Sweet Boy" and "The Boss".

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 12:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 11:00 AM. Interment will be held at a later date.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials can be made to the Charleston Animal Society.
