Angelina Girtell

Charleston, SC— Angelina “Angie” Masullo Girtell, a resident of the West Ashley area, died peacefully at the age of 91 on Friday the 21st of October on John’s Island, SC. Angie worked as a tailor in her early work life, and in later years, for the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers. She was a dedicated Catholic who loved politics and was proud to have voted in every presidential election since 1944. Angie loved cooking authentic Italian food with her nephew-in-law Lynn Carroll, enjoyed bingo with friends, and took great pleasure in knitting and crocheting for friends and family. Born in 1925 in Ossining, NY, Angie was preceded in death by her loving husband George Girtell of East Keansburg, NJ. She is survived by her brother Vincent Masullo and sister-in-law Patricia Masullo of the Villages, Florida, and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Angie loved dogs, and requested that memorial gifts be made to the Charleston Animal Society at 2455 Remount Rd, North Charleston, SC 29406. Angie will be interred next to her late husband in St. Augustine’s cemetery in Ossining, New York, and McAlister-Smith Funeral Home in West Ashley, SC and Leach & Thomas Funeral Home in Ossining, NY, have been entrusted with final arrangements.
