Andrew Kalen 'Andy' Kunkel

Andrew Kalen Kunkel, 30, of Boone, NC, passed on Tuesday, November 3, 2015. He was born on Sunday, October 6, 1985, in Wausau, WI, to Brenda Broeren Powell and Kalen Kunkel. Andy enjoyed playing baseball, going to concerts, collecting baseball cards, and the Green Bay Packers. Andy loved being outdoors, boating, kayaking, hiking and fishing. He spent many summers in Wisconsin with his grandparents. He loved spending time with his family, and his best friend, Hitch. His family will remember him as a very loving young man with a wonderful sense of humor, who never met a stranger. Andy is preceded in death by his stepmother, Joni Kunkel and his stepfather, Robin Floyd. He is survived by his mother, Brenda Broeren Powell and her husband, Michael, of Summerville, SC; his father, Kalen Kunkel of Central, SC; one brother, Adam Kunkel and his wife, Krysta, of North Charleston, SC; two sisters: Taylor Floyd of Brooklyn, NY and Karlie Kunkel of Greenville, SC; two stepbrothers: Matthew and Michael Powell of Summerville, SC; grandparents, Jack and Goldie Broeren of Merrill, WI and Roger and Nancy Kunkel of Merrill, WI; and his best friend, Hitch. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 6, 2015, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley Chapel.
