Amanda Marie Gonya, 36, of Summerville, SC, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025.
Amanda's greatest passion was her family. She was a shining example of a loving mother and a dedicated wife to her husband Zack Gonya. Young at heart, Amanda shared a special bond with her son Liam and daughter Lillian. She found immense joy and purpose in caring for her family while receiving their love in equal measure.
Born on July 11, 1988, in Pottstown, PA, to Janene Schmidt and Gregory Jay. Amanda was raised in Summerville and Goose Creek, SC, by her mother and stepfather John Green as the youngest of six siblings, Kelly, Jamie, Will, Donnie, and Justin.
Amanda graduated from Stratford High School and later found creative ways to support her family while being present in their lives. She worked as a volunteer teacher's aide at her children's elementary school and later joined the front office staff. She also created Gonya's Goodies, a home-based business where she crafted beautiful cookies.
Just a year before her passing, as Liam entered high school and Lilly began eighth grade, Amanda joined Anderson Insurance. She respected the company, enjoyed her work, and looked forward to building a meaningful career there.
Amanda's love for her family was boundless and she lived her life with compassion and devotion, leaving a legacy of love that will endure in all who knew her.
Amanda is preceded in death by her nephew Stanley Scott.
She is survived by her husband, Zachary Gonya; children, Liam Gonya and Lillian Gonya; her parents; siblings: Jamie Piper Brown (Brad), Donald Piper (Rachel) and nephew Caleb, Justin Jay (Kristy Bishop), Joshua Jay (Courtney) and nephew Hudson, Gregory Jay, William Green (Megan) and nephews Landon and Marshall, Kelly Brown (James/JD) and niece Morgan; Grandmother Carol Schmidt; and many in-laws and extended family who loved her dearly.
