Mary Alice Willis-Capps, 96, of Charleston, SC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at home, surrounded by her family. She was born on Thursday, February 19, 1920 in Adams Run, SC, a daughter of the late Eva Mae Salvo Willis and the late Alford Willis. Alice grew up and attended school in Adams Run. She loved and served the Lord at Piney Grove Baptist Church, where her father preached. She enjoyed square dancing, gardening, and most of all, spending time with her family. Her family will remember her as a very loving, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Besides her parents, Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Cole Blease Capps; daughter, Faye Webb-Fash; brothers: Joe, Louis, Herbert, Vincent, George and Clarence Willis; and sister, Estelle D'Avanzo. Alice is survived by four children: Julius Walter Capps; Mary Frances Mason and her husband, Johnny; Vicky Craven and her husband, Bobo, all of Charleston; and Judy McLeod and her husband, Jack, of Ravenel, SC; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 12, 2016, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 PM, at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley Chapel.
