Alice Lovejoy Timmons Morrisey, beloved mother, sister, therapist and friend, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022, at the age of 70.
An unforgettable spirit who loved rainbows, skipped and paddle-boarded for exercise, and counted a labyrinth made of shells among her spiritual and therapeutic tools, Alice adored her husband, Dan, who co-owned and ran the Wonder Works toy store. After his passing, she devoted her time to protecting the environment. She helped lead No-Drill S.C., a coalition that fights to protect South Carolina's coast, an effort much appreciated by the dolphins who regularly visited her dock on Sullivan's Island.
A lifelong lover of books and learning, Alice graduated from USC, then received her MSW from University of Virginia before going on to a PhD program at Pacifica.
Alice was named after her aunt, Alice Lovejoy, who was a WWII pilot. Like her namesake, Alice was adventurous, courageous and loyal, as well as loving, kind and passionate. A true joy to be around, she is greatly missed!
Alice is survived by a daughter, Kayla Morrisey, a son, Shannon Morrisey (Mary Kate), granddaughter, Lyda, and a brother, Johnny Timmons, (Laura) as well as her nieces, Frances Yarborough, Elizabeth Timmons, and Mary Redden Timmons. In memory of our dear friend, colleague, and loved one, walk on the beach and give thanks for sea creatures big and small. A memorial service will be planned for early summer. Donations in her memory can be made to Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network at 1367 Clearbrook Street, North Charleston, SC 29405.
