Alice Blanche Galasso

Alice Blanche Galasso, 85, widow of Michael Galasso, of Mt. Pleasant, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Born October 13, 1928 in Charleston, SC she was the daughter to the late Eva Blanche and John Matthew Blanche. Alice was a graduate of Bishop England High School. She met and married Michael Galasso while working as a secretary at the Navy Base. They were married in March of 1949 and later had ten children. Alice was a devoted wife and mother. She was an avid reader and was fond of mysteries and puzzles. She was passionate about contributing to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and was an advocate of children’s research. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years and her infant daughter, Alice Marie Galasso. She is survived by her children, Christopher J Galasso, Anthony Galasso (Jane), Vincent Galasso, Stephen Galasso, Lawrence Galasso (Deanna), Michael Galasso (Sharon), Kathleen Price (Duff), Laura Lynch, and Gina Kimberl (Scott); her grandchildren, Laura Morrison (Jeff), William Price (Laura), Michael Alan Galasso (Patricia), Sara Jo Kimberl, Kristi Robinson (Jonathan), and Pauli Gallin; and her great-granchildren, Kendal Price, Finn Price, and Ian Morrison. The family will receive friends Friday, February 21, 2014 from 6-8PM with the Rosary being recited at 5:30PM McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant Chapel. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held 10AM, Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 888 King St., with burial to follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Alice’s memory to ST. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 332 N. Lauderdale, Memphis, TN 38105 (800)822-6344, www.stjude.org .
