Alberto Dela Cruz De Sotto, 64 of Summerville, SC, husband to Cresencia De Sotto, entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 31, 2020 surrounded by his family.
Born on August 24, 1955 in Manila, Philippines, Alberto was a son of the late Mariano De Sotto and Isabel Dela Cruz. He was the youngest of eight children. He was only eight months old when his mother Isabel passed away.
Alberto spent most of his life working in Saudi Arabia to provide and give the best education to his two children - Crisaly, who is now a registered nurse here in the United States of America, and son, Rodel, who took a degree in computer science. He was a loving and very hardworking man who would do anything to give his family a good life.
Alberto and his wife, Cresencia, migrated here to the United States in October of 2010. He worked at White Oak Manor for almost 5 years, and almost 2 years at Crossings Assisted Living Facility.
Alberto or Tatay Berto (tatay which means father or dad) which their Filipino friends and family called him was also a very good cook. Some of the dishes that I'm sure everyone will miss are the "Pansit Bihon Guisado" (Rice Sticks Noodles with Vegetables), pork menudo, rice porridge with tofu and pork, "Lumpia" (Filipino spring roll), "Biko" (sweet rice cake), and "Turon" (banana spring roll).
People who knew him very well describe Tatay Berto as a selfless and kind-hearted man.
Besides his wife, Alberto is survived by a daughter, Crisaly Nano; son, Rodel De Sotto, and 5 grandchildren: Chrystelle-Gaile Nano, Caitlyn-Anne Nano, Caleb-Elijah Nano, Reinna De Sotto, and Raizza De Sotto.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM-10:30 AM on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation, 869 St. James Avenue, Goose Creek, SC 29445.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 510 St. James Avenue, Goose Creek, SC 29445.
Arrangements entrusted to McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation, Goose Creek, SC.
