Akio Nakanishi Kuhlenbeck, 91, of Charleston and widow of the late Robert Kuhlenbeck, passed away Monday, January 9, 2017. Akio Kuhlenbeck was born on June 4, 1925 in Fukui, Japan. She retired from Chanute Air Force Base as a grill cook supervisor at the base cafeteria. After she retired, she owned an antique shop. She loved playing Bingo anywhere she could. She also liked working in her yard on her Bonsai trees. Survivors include her daughter, Chiaki Smith (Charlie), of Charleston; her son, Micheal Lee Kuhlenbeck of Dallas, TX; her daughter, Patricha Munroe (Jack) of Dallas, TX; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
